Stainless steel water Filters

Stainless Steel Water Filters

I have noticed the Asian stainless steel systems are being offered again, I can't caution you enough about how bad these systems are.Just about all the water filter suppliers have had a go at these systems over the years because they look great and the idea of a stainless steel system is appealing to say the least but they are a nightmare. We purchased some about 4 years ago and regret it as we re-called all of them and replaced with our premium plastic range. They were extremely difficult to replace a cartridge in and precision seems to be something the manufacturers are yet to master as the cartridges within would on some fail to seal, they were prone to blowing their O rings and leaking. I had a customer contact me this week with one of these systems that had a pin hole in the housing because it rusted through, yes rusted through, because they are such a low quality stainless steel it shouldn't be called stainless steel because they rust, we didn't supply this system to this person but as all before him he replaced it with a quality plastic system. We still have these housings in stock and I will dispose of them which is a shame, I have thought about giving them away for free to a customer but even if supplied for free we are still liable for the damage from flooding that they can cause. My advise to you is tread carefully, you can buy quality stainless steel housings but just one housing without anything else would cost around $500.00 each. Buy from us or don't buy from us but what ever you do don't buy an Asian stainless steel system.

On line ordering

Posted by Peter in water filterreverse osmosis

PSI Water Filters are having the web site re-built so that on-line ordering can be created on the site and this will be available in a few weeks as our site is complex with the discounts offered. There have been several U.S. suppliers that have increased their prices but due to the improving Australian dollar the price rises have had little effect on the overall prices.

Water Filter & Reverse Osmosis Instructions

Posted by Peter in water filterreverse osmosis

We have been adding more material to our web site to improve the information about water filters for the customers, those that visit regularly will notice we have listed a short version of the Undersink reverse osmosis operating instructions, this will help customers understand how they are fitted and operate before the system arrives. We have also included more detail for the Countertop Water Filter systems and how the fit up to the sink tap, as time permits I will also be doing similar for all systems such as Laundry (wall mount) reverse osmosis and water filter systems such as the single, twin and triple under sink systems. We will be putting on the web site in great detail all things about water filters like step by stem instructions in great detail on how to change cartridges with pictures right down to information on things like Chlorine, Fluoride and many more, I will write these pages and up-load to the web site as spare time permits.

Water Filters | Reverse Osmosis - 60 Minutes Report

Posted by Peter in water filterreverse osmosis

On Sunday night 12-04-2009  60 minutes ran a story about the bottled water industry along the line of liquid gold. The nuts and bolts of it all was that most bottled water that you buy really is simply filtered tap water and when purchased in smaller bottles is more expensive than petrol. When you consider that the only production cost for the water it’s self is simply running the mains water through a water filter system and bottling it, the profit margins are simply huge, they did example testing with people that normally buy bottled water and gave then filtered tap water to taste, result was that they preferred the filtered water, this is no real surprise as the freshly filtered water was just that, fresh with the bottled water having sat in a plastic bottle for some time. They also had some of the bottled water tested and some were found to have high levels of bacteria with some also containing aluminium. The reality is it is hugely cheaper to have a home water filter system and filter it fresh, if you need a small bottle of water then it is as easy as re-filling one of the pop top bottles. One of the problems with tap water is the chlorine as it is un-pleasant, this product is easily removed with a carbon based water filter system or reverse osmosis.

Water Filter imports

Posted by Peter in water filterreverse osmosis

Water Filter Imports The world financial problems seem to be settling down a bit but I find it disappointing that in these times large companies have decided to move manufacturing off-shore to China at a time when they should keep the manufacturing in Australia to support their workers. They don’t seem to realise that not everyone wants to buy stuff made in China, one of the major water filter manufacturers (USA) has moved some of it’s products to be made in China and we dropped the product straight away, they assured us that it was made to the same high standards but even a visual inspection shows that not to be the truth, strange thing is the price remained the same, they no doubt are relying on the product name to continue to be a selling point. The Water Filters industry is still showing growth and it may be a result of people coming to realise that bottled water is mostly filtered tap water pretending to be something much purer, I believe that people as a result are filtering there own tap water and saving a fortune and in many cases the filtered water being superior to the bottled water especially the Reverse Osmosis units.

Water Filters Scam

Posted by Peter in water filter

There is a little scam going on at the moment from one of the major water filter suppliers in Australia, they are cold phone calling people at home asking if they would like to be part of a survey on their thoughts of recycled water being added to their water supply.

They are offered the chance to win a Countertop water filter for participating in the survey, surprise surprise everyone wins but there is a catch, you have to pay $115.00 for the cartridge for the countertop filter system, If you say you only want the system without the cartridge they won’t send it, you win the system but only if you purchase their way over priced cartridge, a similar cartridge from us would cost around $40.00

It is disappointing that this company have lowered their standards to tricks to promote sales as the products that they sell are good quality.
I am not sure just how legal this is, if you win something it should not be conditional on buying the water filter cartridge so the thing will work, also some of the areas they are calling have no intension of introducing recycled water so I am guessing it is to scare people to purchase their not so free Countertop water filter system.

Water Filter Sales

Posted by Peter in water filterreverse osmosis

Water filter sales continue to show strong growth despite the economic down turn. This is most likely the result of low water levels in the various storages around the country which results in low quality water being supplied to our houses.

The introduction of fluoride into Queensland water supplies has spread further than just Queensland with the general public doing their own research into this nasty poison and finding facts that frighten them, it would appear the research they have done they have shared with their friends and relatives in other states.

The usual parasites continue to sell just about any type of water filter system claiming fluoride removal when most of what they are selling won’t even remove 1%, only reverse osmosis can remove 92 to 95% day in and day out.

The lower water levels in storage systems result in a higher risk of blue/green algae as well as higher bacteria counts, again the only way of treating the toxins produced by blue/green algae is reverse osmosis, carbon filters are of some use against these toxins but not to the level of reverse osmosis.

The increase in sales of water filters is a direct result in both fluoride and diminishing quality of the water supplies around the country, lets hope the drought breaks soon so the quality of our drinking water improves, I hope this happens even though it will slow water filter sales.

Filter your water or bottled water?

Posted by Peter in water filterreverse osmosis

Filtered water or bottled water? The bottled water industry is booming these days and the reason is because people just don’t trust the water that is coming out of their taps at home. Some people refuse to drink from the kitchen tap because they have no idea what is in the drinking water. In fact, most bottled water is simply filtered tap water using a water filter system and you can achieve the same result with a home water filter. Many bottled water suppliers that claim their water is mineral water is in fact some simple bore water that is mixed with reverse osmosis water to soften or control the mineral content or is tap water with sea salt added, sea salt is high in minerals.

Some people are resistant to using reverse osmosis water due to the water being de-mineralised but there are very little amounts of minerals in even mineral water, a glass of orange juice contains around 30 times the minerals compared to normal tap or mineral water. Bottled water normally contains fluoride.

Water Filters | Reverse Osmosis

Posted by Peter in water filterreverse osmosis

The hottest thing happening in the past few weeks is the introduction of Fluoride into Queensland water supplies, from the comments of the customers they aren’t happy about it. It amazes me that the various Australian Governments still put this poison into water supplies when almost all the rest of the world have banned it. Reverse osmosis is the only reliable way to rid most of it from your drinking water as water filters systems like carbon and KDF have no treatment for this mineral, I notice the usual parasites of the Water Filter Industry are selling filter systems that they say will remove Fluoride but they are telling the customers what they want to hear, they don’t seem to care that it is lies as long as they obtain some money from unsuspecting and trusting consumers.Water filters are very good at removing chemicals from our drinking water but Fluoride is a mineral not a chemical so if you wish to remove Fluoride from your drinking water then it is reverse osmosis.
