HOW TO REDUCE OPERATING COSTS FOR THE COUNTERTOP REVERSE OSMOSIS SYSTEM

STAGE 1, is the Omnipure CL10-PF5, 5 micron sediment filter. This filter is simply replaced annually or if connected to dirty water supply replace if it became blocked early.

STAGE 2, This is the Omnipure CL10RO-T40, 5 micron granular activated coconut carbon cartridge. This cartridge will adsorb the chlorine that can damage the membrane. This cartridge will last for about 5,500 litres of total water which includes the waste water so will treat for about 2750 litres of product water or 12 months whichever comes first. Read stage 4 to obtain maximum life from the cartridges to minimise replacement costs.

STAGE 3, is the Dow Filmtec TFC (thim film composite) membrane which is the heart of the unit. We use the 400 litres per day membrane which is the largest and fastest membrane that can fit into a standard size membrane housing. Membranes are rated at how much water they will produce if they were left on for 24 hours at 50psi pressure but will produce more at higher pressures. This unit will produce Reverse Osmosis water at about 275ml per minute at lower pressures (45psi) and up to 500ml per minute at higher pressures (85psi). This unit is a market leader for speed and quality with the water quality second to none.

STAGE 4, This cartridge is the Omnipure CL10RO-T40 which is a 5 micron coconut granular activated carbon cartridge for the best tasting water possible. We use the coconut carbon cartridge for its superiour taste as coconut carbon doesn't release ohosphates and CO2 so it won't drop the pH like coal based carbons do.

You can simply replace the 3 cartridges (annual change) as required with new cartridges but if you or someone you know is handy you can take stage 4 cartridge and put it at stage 2 location after removing the cartridge that was at stage 2 and placing new cartridges at stages 1 and 4 and by doing this you will only require to purchase 2 cartridges annually. The reason you can re-use the cartridge that was at stage 4 is it has done very little work. The old cartridges that were remove from stages 1 and 2 are to be discarded. This option is not suitable if you choose to replace stage 4 with the optional re-mineraliser.

The water out of a countertop reverse osmosis exits by way of a flexable white tube so you can put the tube into a container that you wish to fill, the good water exist in a white tube and the waste water exits by way of a black tube so they are different in colour so you cannot mix them up.
