WH-002-RF-Silver Twin Whole House Water Filtration System
The WH-002-RF-Silver Whole House System is designed specifically for
un-chlorinated water supplies, including rainwater tanks, dams and suitable soft-water bores.
It combines heavy-duty genuine PENTEK Big White housings with sediment filtration and
silver-impregnated activated carbon to provide practical whole-house treatment for untreated water supplies.
The system comes complete with both filter cartridges and is supplied ready for installation.
Designed for un-chlorinated water: Unlike a standard activated carbon cartridge, the Stage 2 refillable carbon contains silver nitrate impregnated carbon. The silver helps inhibit bacterial growth on the carbon media, making this cartridge more suitable for untreated water applications where chlorine is not present.
Why Choose the WH-002-RF-Silver?
- Designed for rainwater tanks, dams and soft-water bores where the incoming water supply is not chlorinated.
- Genuine PENTEK Big White housings for proven, heavy-duty whole-house filtration.
- Two-stage filtration combining sediment removal with silver-impregnated activated carbon treatment.
- 20″ × 4.5″ industry-standard cartridges, making replacement filters straightforward and economical.
- Silver nitrate impregnated carbon helps inhibit bacterial growth on the carbon media.
- Refillable carbon cartridge keeps ongoing servicing costs lower than replacing a complete carbon cartridge each time.
- 1″ BSP female inlet and outlet connections suitable for high-flow whole-house installations.
- Up to 60 LPM flow capability, with a recommended treatment rate of approximately 25 LPM.
- Complete system supplied with housings, cartridges, bracket and housing spanner.
How the Two-Stage System Works
Stage 1 — Sediment Filtration
The first stage uses a 20″ Big White housing fitted with a polyspun sediment cartridge. Depending on the condition of the incoming water supply, the system can use a 1 micron, 5 micron or 20 micron sediment cartridge.
This stage is designed to capture suspended material such as:
- Dirt
- Dust
- Rust particles
- Algae
- Other suspended solids and particles
Stage 2 — Silver-Impregnated Carbon
The second stage uses another 20″ Big White housing containing a refillable GAC silver carbon cartridge.
The activated carbon is impregnated with silver nitrate. On an un-chlorinated water supply, ordinary activated carbon can provide a surface on which bacteria may grow. The silver treatment is used to help inhibit bacterial growth on the carbon media.
The carbon stage also assists with the reduction of a range of chemical, taste and odour issues in the incoming water supply.

Housing Specifications
The WH-002-RF-Silver uses genuine PENTEK Big White housings. The housings are rated to approximately 90 PSI operating pressure.
System Dimensions
| Measurement | Size |
|---|---|
| Height | 720 mm |
| Width | 400 mm |
| Depth | 200 mm |
| Additional servicing clearance | Allow approximately 50 mm below the housings for cartridge changes |
Treatment Rate & Flow Rate
- Recommended treatment rate: 25 litres per minute
- Maximum flow rate: up to 60 litres per minute
- Connection size: 1″ BSP / approximately 25 mm female thread
Actual water flow and system performance may vary depending on incoming water pressure, pipework, cartridge condition and the level of sediment in the water supply.
Low-Cost Filter Servicing
One of the advantages of the WH-002-RF-Silver is its relatively low ongoing servicing cost. Rather than replacing the entire carbon cartridge, the Stage 2 cartridge can be emptied and refilled with fresh silver carbon media.
The original system specification uses approximately 4 litres / 2 kg of silver carbon media to refill the cartridge.
The sediment cartridge is normally replaced rather than refilled. Service life for both stages depends heavily on the incoming water supply, including the amount of sediment, algae and other contamination entering the system.
Typical servicing: The sediment cartridge can last up to approximately 12 months in suitable conditions, however heavily contaminated tank, dam or bore water may require more frequent replacement.

Important Information for Rainwater Tanks
Rainwater can naturally become acidic depending on local conditions, roof materials, environmental contamination and the chemistry of the stored water. If acidic water is supplied through copper plumbing, it can contribute to corrosion of copper pipework.
One visible indication can be blue or green staining around bathroom fittings, basins, showers or other wet areas. This may indicate copper being dissolved from the plumbing and should prompt further investigation of the water chemistry.
Testing Tank Water pH
Tank-water users should periodically check the pH of their stored water, particularly where copper plumbing is installed.
A suitable water pH test kit can be used to monitor the water. If testing indicates the water is acidic, treatment may be required before the water continues through the household plumbing.
Correcting Acidic Tank Water
PSI Filters can provide filtration systems incorporating a dedicated pH correction stage containing media such as coral sand and calcite. These minerals help neutralise acidic water before it enters the household plumbing.
The original system information also describes traditional tank-treatment methods involving lime or seashells. Because the correct amount depends on the tank volume and starting pH, water chemistry should be tested carefully rather than adding a fixed quantity.
Important: This WH-002-RF-Silver system is primarily a sediment and carbon filtration system. If your rainwater is acidic and requires pH correction, speak with PSI Filters about adding the appropriate pH treatment stage for your water supply.
Best Suited To
- Rainwater tank supplies
- Dam water applications where appropriate pre-treatment is in place
- Soft-water bore supplies
- Homes using un-chlorinated water
- Properties wanting whole-house sediment, taste, odour and chemical filtration
- Customers wanting a refillable, economical carbon filtration system
Installation
The WH-002-RF-Silver is supplied as a complete filtration system ready for installation. Its 1″ BSP connections are designed for whole-house plumbing applications.
Ensure sufficient space is left below the housings to allow the filter bowls to be removed during cartridge servicing.
Installing near the coast?
Choose the optional stainless steel bracket upgrade.
It is recommended for installations located within 5 km of the ocean
to provide improved resistance to coastal salt exposure.
