The Doulton Ultracarb is a great option if the water quality is unknown as it has a ceramic outer which can be cleaned over and over. Still has a 12 month service life but with the periodic cleaning can extend the life of the cartridge.
Having the bacteria and E.coli rating is also gives coverage for un-chlorinated water supplies.
